About Kerrie Havern
Kerrie Havern is the Founder of Strike Back Self Defence in Newry and Co-Founder of Caring Coins — two organisations built on the same belief: that people thrive when they feel safe, supported and connected.
As a fully accredited Strikeback instructor, Kerrie leads women-only and girls self defence classes in Newry for ages four through to adulthood. Her programmes are divided by age group so every participant learns practical, real-world skills in a space that matches their stage of life — from building confidence through movement for young children, to giving teenage girls and women the skills and assurance to feel safer in the world.
Alongside her self defence work, Kerrie co-founded Caring Coins Association in April 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as support for people facing financial or mental health challenges has grown into a mission-led charity serving County Down and Armagh, creating safe spaces, community programmes and practical help such as free breakfasts and children's Christmas appeals.
